I’m Sandy Broadwill. I live in Asheville, NC with my husband Michael and our furbaby Pogie. Before Asheville we lived in a van and traveled around the US, and before that we called Lexington, KY home. I lived in Missoula, MT for a couple years too. I miss them all, but I’m happy we’ve putting down roots in the Appalachian Mountains.
My career is in sustainable transportation, which I’ve been doing now for over 10 years. I have an M.P.A. and a B.S. in Environmental Science. And I love riding my bike to the office when I’m not working from home.
I’m an aspiring author and avid reader of fantasy and science fiction. I have a YouTube channel where I like to talk about books. I’m also a whitewater kayaker, urban bicyclist, and D&D player. I like building and making things, and right now that energy is going into our 1977 house.
In 2026 I’m learning how to make stained glass art. I dabble in birding and gardening. I drink black coffee and dark beers. I love hiking, swimming, climbing trees, staring at clouds, napping in hammocks, and sipping bourbon in front of a campfire.
I spend a lot of time thinking about storytelling, climate change, the environment, land use, human behavior, and structural inequality. I believe every adventure is better when it’s shared with the people I love.
This is my blog.
